Spazio Taverna's Tecno-Bazar: Student-Designed Cultural Experience at Reggio Calabria Academy

exhibition · 2026-04-27

On May 24, 2023, Spazio Taverna, a modern art venue located in Rome's Palazzo Taverna, unveiled its inaugural student-designed initiative, Tecno-Bazar, at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Reggio Calabria, involving 169 participants. The workshop, guided by curators Ludovico Pratesi and Marco Bassan, focused on the evolution of art from static objects to dynamic actions. Thirteen students crafted experiential concepts, with one chosen for implementation. The initiative introduced the 'Metodo Taverna,' encapsulated in nine descriptive adjectives. Participants engaged with questions regarding wisdom, strength, or love, earning coins and entering a waiting area before the Tecno-Bazar, which drew inspiration from Orientalist art and bustling markets. Goods, concealed beneath fabrics, featured QR-code cryptograms for pricing. Reggio Calabria stands as the first Italian academy to embrace this innovative cultural model.
