Spazio Studi Arte Opens in Rome with Roommates Exhibition Series

On January 26, 2024, Spazio Studi Arte, a new visual arts center, opens in Rome's Prati district. It is an offshoot of Spazio Studi, a private school established in 1962 that offers alternative education and recently renovated. The center launches with Roommates, a project curated by Gemma Gulisano, director and co-director of Spazio Studi and Artribune contributor. Roommates consists of four appointments, each featuring three solo exhibitions by emerging artists selected by Gulisano. For the first appointment (January 26-28), critics Dobrila Denegri, Nicolas Martino, and Antonello Tolve each support one artist. The artists are Sara Antonellis (Sora, 1999), Claudia Evangelista (Piano di Sorrento, 1999), and Nicolas Salgado Gomez (Pereira, Colombia, 2002). Antonellis, a Rufa student, explores reality's planes and antinomies; her recent show was Who Killed Bamby? at Casso di Pordenone. Evangelista, also a Rufa student, investigates human interaction and emotional pain from an ecocentric perspective; her exhibitions include Acino di fuoco in Belgrade (2023) and Gente di altrove at Villa Contarini in Pavona. Salgado Gomez addresses childhood lacks through dolls, examining body and individual consciousness; his main show was COSMOSI VOL 1 at Cosmo in Trastevere. The second appointment is scheduled for late March 2024. Spazio Studi also offers courses in drawing, painting, cyanotype, photography, curating, theater, and creative writing, and hosts author events.
