Spazio Munari Opens in Milan Celebrating the Artist's Legacy
On September 29, 2023, Spazio Munari inaugurates in Milan at via Savona 17/5, on the site of the former Libreria exTemporanea 121+. Curated by Corraini Edizioni in collaboration with the artist's grandchildren Bruno Munari and Valeria Munari Cattin, the space is dedicated to the work of Bruno Munari (Milan, 1907–1998). The opening coincides with the 25th anniversary of Munari's death and the 50th anniversary of Corraini's founding. The inaugural exhibition, "Piccole cose di famiglia," features previously unseen drawings Munari made for his family. Future exhibitions include a December show on the "Cappuccetti" (Little Hoods) and early 2024 shows on "far vedere l'aria" (making air visible) and the "Ricostruzione teorica di un oggetto immaginario" (Theoretical Reconstruction of an Imaginary Object). The space also hosts a library, a reading room, and a series of talks titled "Ognuno conosce un Munari diverso" with illustrators, designers, and critics. Corraini Edizioni aims to create an open, participatory environment for adults and children to explore creativity, building on the legacy of the exTemporanea 121+ bookstore, which was a hub for Milan's creative community for 14 years.
