Spazio Morris reopens with Andrea Kvas exhibition in Milan artist studio

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Spazio Morris, a non-profit art space founded by Alessandra Pedrotti and Marta Pierobon in Milan, has reopened after a decade-long hiatus. Originally active from 2010 to 2013 near Porta Romana, the space operated in a large apartment abandoned since the 1980s, hosting exhibitions, residencies, and site-specific projects for Italian artists. The founders paused activities due to career commitments but always intended to resume. Now, Spazio Morris adopts a nomadic model, organizing two projects per year (spring and autumn) in different locations, primarily in Milan but also abroad. The inaugural project is Andrea Kvas's "A new golden age of guano," running from April 6 to May 12, 2024, hosted in the studio of artist Giovanni de Francesco. For his first solo exhibition in Milan, Kvas created a site-specific installation over seven days prior to the opening, allowing the public to witness the work-in-progress. Starting from an abstract bird-like form, he reproduced the silhouette about a thousand times through layering, saturating the space with synthetic resins, pigments, and cellulose mixtures. The work reflects Kvas's instinctive and playful approach to painting, deconstructing the relationship between painting and its support, and intersecting with sculptural, performative, and relational practices.
