Spazi Fotografici opens new headquarters in Sarzana, Liguria

Spazi Fotografici, established in 2019 by photographer Davide Marcesini in La Spezia, is set to unveil its new location in Sarzana, Liguria, during the Festival della Mente. This three-day event will feature film screenings, photography sessions, discussions with artists, guided tours, and partnerships with local businesses, galleries, and collectives. After transitioning to online web talks during the pandemic—engaging with photographers like Alex Majoli, Matteo Balduzzi, and Mario Cresci—the association is resuming in-person events. Francesca Fontana, the coordinator, describes the venue as a cultural hub for events, courses, and exhibitions, blending online and offline formats. The opening event, Spazi Fest, will showcase a study on Jacopo Benassi's performance, featuring artists such as Luca Lupi and curator Ilaria Mariotti. Fontana notes the provincial challenges but highlights the importance of collaboration with local authorities.
