SPAZI 2018: Milan's Independent Art Spaces Open Their Doors
The SPAZI festival, celebrating Milan's independent art venues, will occur from October 5 to 7, 2018. Established in 2015 by curator Andrea Lacarpia, SPAZI focuses on project spaces that create contemporary art initiatives outside the commercial gallery framework, often managed by collectives of artists, critics, and curators. These non-profit entities aim to explore art with an innovative mindset and highlight emerging trends while remaining connected to their urban and cultural surroundings. The event seeks to enhance collaboration among these venues, showcasing their distinctiveness. Participating locations include Dimora Artica (curated by Lacarpia), 14MQ Spazio Cavo, Assab One, and others, all hosting exhibitions and installations. The main venue will be Sala delle Colonne at Fabbrica del Vapore, featuring discussions and special guests. The festival will span both the historic center and the outskirts of Milan.
