Spanish Architecture Biennial BEAU Opens First International Venue in Tokyo

The XVII Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (BEAU) will open its first international venue at the Embassy of Spain in Japan, Tokyo, on September 4, 2026. This marks the penultimate stop of its itinerant cycle, following earlier presentations in Ponferrada, La Palma, and Avilés. Curated by Ander Bados and Miguel Ramón under the title 'Flujos Comunes' (Common Flows), the exhibition aims to disseminate the talent, plurality, and innovative capacity of Spanish architecture and urbanism internationally. It features the twenty award-winning proposals in the Works category, accompanied by a series of models created specifically for this tour. These models do not literally reproduce the buildings; instead, they focus on constructive, spatial, and material aspects that establish connections and affinities with Japanese architecture, proposing a new reading of the selected works through a dialogue between both cultural and architectural contexts. The Tokyo venue is the penultimate stop of the cycle, with the final destination yet to be announced.
