festival-fair · 2026-04-23

On August 24, SP-Arte, the largest art fair in Brazil, introduced its inaugural virtual edition, the SP-Arte Viewing Room, which will be accessible until August 30. This online platform showcases 136 exhibitors, including galleries specializing in art, design, and publications. Director Fernanda Feitosa mentioned that this digital format will complement future in-person events. She recognized the communication challenges faced by Brazilian galleries following the cancellation of the April physical fair due to Covid-19 but highlighted advancements made. Feitosa justified the participation fees due to necessary technological investments. The Viewing Room enables exhibitors to design virtual exhibitions using diverse media, improving accessibility and connections between buyers and galleries. No registration is needed. Feitosa expressed optimism for a physical fair in April 2021, noting that 57% of last year's artworks sold for under R$50,000.
