Sovrappensiero Design Studio: Interview with Lorenzo De Rosa and Ernesto Iadevaia

Sovrappensiero Design Studio, founded in 2007 by Lorenzo De Rosa and Ernesto Iadevaia, operates from a pistachio-colored industrial building near Politecnico di Milano. The studio has been recognized by Platform magazine among the best Italian architects and designers under 40 for 2020. They combine experimental research with industrial production, exploring new technological processes in modeling, prototyping, and 3D printing. Their collaborations include Porada, Bialetti, Mamoli, Vibram, Incipit, Corraini, WayPoint, Marmi Sacco, and Manerba. Recently, they launched a metal collection for Rampinelli S.p.A, featuring a table, bench, and coat rack in primary colors yellow, red, and blue. The collection highlights plasma cutting, CNC milling, and manual TIG welding. They also designed the Athena jewelry collection for Maison 23, inspired by ancient Greece and female deities, using parametric software and 3D printing. During lockdown, they initiated the free project 'stay at home and go somewhere,' allowing people to virtually travel via smartphone. They teach at NABA and consider 'design for the blind' their heart project, presented at Salone Satellite 2008.
