Soviet textile factory transforms into Fabrika hostel and cultural hub in Tbilisi
MUA – Multiverse Architecture has converted a 7,000 sqm Soviet-era textile factory in central Tbilisi into Fabrika, a multifunctional hostel and cultural space for the Adjara Group. The project preserves the industrial character, retaining original floors, patinated finishes, and layered paint. Beyond accommodation—dormitories, private rooms, and accessible units—Fabrika includes a restaurant, concept store, artist studios, residences, offices, gallery, and co-working. Street artists painted the multicolored facades. The inner courtyard serves as the new heart, designed as a "living, breathing organism" open to locals and visitors for meetings, collaboration, and events. The adaptive reuse prioritizes energy efficiency and code compliance. Fabrika aims to transform the empty building into an urban platform for artists to create and share.
