Sovereign Asian Art Prize 2020 shortlist features 31 artists from 18 countries

The Sovereign Art Foundation has announced the 2020 shortlist for its Asian Art Prize, which recognizes mid-career artists from Asia and the Asia Pacific region. A panel including museum director David Elliot, artists Zhou Li and Miao Xiaochun, and art historian Jiyoon Lee selected the 31 finalists. These artists represent 18 different countries across the region. The grand prize winner will receive $30,000. Finalists will also compete for a public vote prize, determined through online voting and at the exhibition. Additionally, the Vogue Hong Kong Women’s Art Prize will award $5,000 to the highest-scoring female finalist. Exhibitions and winners are scheduled to be announced in May. Public voting is currently open.
