Southern Lookout: Elevated Viewing Platform in Hornsby by AJC Architects
The Southern Lookout, a 42-metre-long elevated viewing platform designed by AJC Architects, has been completed in Hornsby, Sydney. The project, led by Lee Collard with design team Laura Payne and Jim Koopman, occupies a 200 m² area within bushland surrounding a former rock quarry. The landscape architecture was handled by Clouston Associates, structural engineering by Arup, and other engineering by Dunnings. Curated by Miwa Negoro, the intervention offers a precise architectural response to the natural setting. Photographs by Alexander Mayes document the structure, which was completed in 2026.
