Sound-Based Exhibition at Nørrebro Teater Features Abramović, Anderson, July

Nørrebro Teater in Copenhagen presents its first major contemporary art exhibition, "In the Presence of Others," featuring Marina Abramović, Laurie Anderson, and Miranda July. The show is exclusively sound-based, with works spread throughout the theatre. Laurie Anderson debuts "Your Eyes in My Head," a binaural multichannel piece created for the exhibition. Marina Abramović contributes "The Tree" (1971) and "The Airport" (1972), early works where she used sound to intervene in space before turning to her body as medium. Miranda July presents "The Drifters," ten short dialogues from the 2002 Whitney Biennial that use humor and fragments to engage listeners. The exhibition explores themes of belonging, identity, and self-understanding, running until May 17, 2026.
