Sou Fujimoto's First Major Survey Exhibition 'Primordial Future Forest' Opens at Mori Art Museum
From July 2 to November 9, 2025, the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo will showcase 'Primordial Future Forest,' an extensive retrospective of architect Sou Fujimoto's work. Spanning three decades, the exhibition is divided into eight sections, tracing Fujimoto's journey from the 2000 Aomori Museum of Art Design Competition to his vision for The Grand Ring at Expo 2025 Osaka. His designs, influenced by his childhood in Higashikagura near the forests of Hokkaido, include notable projects such as L'Arbre Blanc (2019) and the Serpentine Pavilion (2013). The display features immersive installations and emphasizes 'Forest of Future, Forest of Primordial – Resonant City (2025),' a collaborative proposal with Keio University’s Miyata Hiroaki, aiming to envision harmonious communities.
