Sottoscalo: New Creative Showhouse Opens in Milan Merging Art and Design

architecture-design · 2026-04-26

On March 7, 2024, Milan's Porta Romana district will welcome Sottoscalo, a novel hybrid venue located in the former studio of artist Luca Vitone. Spanning 120 square meters, this space, crafted by Riccardo Polo and Andrea Villa, emulates six different home settings and functions as a gallery, showhouse, and incubator. The opening exhibition, titled New Creative Showhouse, showcases works from artists including Luca Vitone, Pietro Geranzani, Roberto Cambi, Andrea Crespi, Valentina Grilli, and Jacq. Vitone introduces a new piece focused on dust, while Geranzani presents an oil painting, Cambi exhibits ceramics, and Crespi explores themes of love. Grilli's and Jacq's artworks encourage contemplation of self-identity. Visits will be by appointment, and the space is open to innovative projects.
