Sottoforma's Third Act at Ipogeo Necci Features Angelino and Bellantoni

exhibition · 2026-05-13

From May 12 to 14, 2026, the Ipogeo Necci in Rome hosts the third installment of Sottoforma, curated by Donatella Giordano and Agathe Jaubourg, presenting works by José Angelino and Elena Bellantoni. The project, divided into three acts, explores memory through descent into the underground space. Previous acts featured Eva Marisaldi, Enrico Serotti, Luca Vitone, Iginio De Luca, and Liliana Moro. Bellantoni's 'Lucciole' (2015) comprises four vinyl records and a turntable, collecting testimonies of historical events as told by individuals, evoking Pasolini's critique of consumerism. Angelino's 'Mosquitos' (2019) uses iron, glass, magnets, and electromagnets to produce a sound mimicking Schumann resonance, inducing a meditative state. The installation interacts with the cave's acoustics, merging geological and human memory.
