Sotheby's Paris Relocates to Larger Space in Luxury District
Sotheby's will move its Paris headquarters to 83 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in October 2024, coinciding with Art Basel Paris. The new location, just a few numbers from its previous address at 76 Rue du Faubourg, offers 30% more exhibition space across 3,300 square meters over five floors. The building, restored by Architecturestudio and Degaine, preserves Art Deco elements from its past as the Galerie Bernheim-Jeune while adding contemporary features like a 200-square-meter auction room with street-facing windows and a central glass atrium. Facilities include exhibition galleries totaling over 1,200 square meters, a luxury showroom called the Salon, a wine cellar with tasting area, and a café. The move aims to strengthen Sotheby's position in Paris and France, positioning the venue as a cultural destination open to the public. It follows the opening of Sotheby's new Hong Kong headquarters in July 2024 and precedes the relocation of its New York operations to the Breuer Building (former Whitney Museum) in 2025.
