Sotheby's Paris design auction nets €9.9M, led by Lalanne and Giacometti

Sotheby's Paris design auction on October 31 achieved €9.939 million, selling 126 of 130 lots. Top performers included Claude Lalanne's Love Seat Bench (1994) at €607,500 and Ginkgo Bench (2001) at €463,500, and François-Xavier Lalanne's unique Mouton de laine (c. 1965) at €517,500. Diego Giacometti's Table Carcasse à la chauve-souris (1979) fetched €487,500, and Guéridon-Arbre au Hibou (1982) reached €367,500. Jean Prouvé's pair of armchairs (c. 1951) sold for €319,000. Jean Royère's Ours Polaire sofa and two armchairs (design 1947, production 1957) achieved €451,500 and €487,500 respectively. Christie's will hold a monographic Royère sale on November 20. Meanwhile, Art Nouveau and Déco masters like Gallé, Horta, and Ruhlmann remained unsold.
