Sotheby's contemporary art evening sale in New York achieved nearly $280 million, with only 4 of 64 lots unsold. The top lot was Gerhard Richter's 'A B, STILL' at nearly $34 million, followed by Richter's 'A B, ST. JAMES' at almost $23 million. Andy Warhol's 1987 self-portrait sold for $24.425 million (estimate $20-30 million). David Hockney set a new personal record with 'Woldgate Woods, 24, 25, and 26 October 2006' (182.9 x 365.7 cm) at nearly $12 million, surpassing his 2009 record of $7.9 million for 'Beverly Hills Housewife'.
