Sotheby's Milano to Auction Italian Design Masters
From November 6 to 15, 2024, Sotheby's Milano will host its second online design auction, showcasing the brilliance of 20th-century Italian design. Featured in the auction is the personal collection of architect Claudio Vender, along with works from renowned designers such as Gio Ponti, Max Ingrand, and Franco Albini. Notable items include Ponti's Divano transatlantico Giulio Cesare (estimated at €8,000-10,000) and a pair of Garzanti armchairs (€18,000-23,000), alongside Albini's Mitragliera (€15,000-17,000) and Scarpa's Octopus glass (€5,000-6,000). Selected Murano glass pieces will also be available. Viewing will take place at Sotheby's Palazzo Serbelloni on November 8, 9, and 11. Eugenia Fassati remarked that the auction honors the lasting essence of Italian creativity, following successful sales in New York and Paris earlier this year.
