Sotheby's Milano Closes 2025 with Italian Modern Masters Auction

Sotheby's Italia will hold its final 2025 auction of Modern and Contemporary Art on November 26, 2025, at Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan. The 36-lot catalog is led by three works by Lucio Fontana: 'Concetto Spaziale' (1965, estimate €800,000–1,200,000), 'Concetto Spaziale, Attese' white (1968, €700,000–1,000,000), and a red 'Concetto Spaziale, Attese' (estimate €600,000–800,000). Other highlights include Alberto Burri's 'Bianco CN 3' (1966, €250,000–350,000), Giorgio de Chirico's 'Archeologi' (1929–30, €350,000–450,000), Emilio Vedova's 'Spagna n. 4' (1959, €250,000–350,000), Carla Accardi's 'Rosso' (1976, €120,000–180,000), and Enrico Castellani's 'Superficie Opalina n. 2' (1972, €120,000–180,000). International artists include Christo, Elizabeth Peyton (from an Italian collection, 'Franz in Hamburg' 1995, €100,000–150,000), Lisa Yuskavage (first sale in Italy, 'Wee Headshrinker' 1996, €40,000–60,000), and Sam Francis. About 80% of the lots are fresh to market. The auction follows Sotheby's Italy's successful 2025: a Fine Jewels and Watches auction totaling €6 million, a private collection sale exceeding estimates at €5.3 million, and a May Modern and Contemporary Art auction at €11.4 million. Marta Giani, Director of the Contemporary Art Department at Sotheby's Italy, described the catalog as a 'rich and multifaceted dialogue between styles and generations.' The exhibition runs November 21–25 at Palazzo Serbelloni.
