Sotheby's London auctions feature major Italian masters and emerging artists

Sotheby's London is set for a major auction day on March 2, 2022, with two key sales: the debut of The Now Evening Sale, focusing on works from the last 20 years by emerging artists, followed by the flagship Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction. The Italian focus is strong, with top lots including Lucio Fontana's 'Concetto Spaziale, Attese' (1964-65, est. £3-4 million), 'Concetto Spaziale, Natura' (1959-60, est. £1-1.5 million), Alberto Burri's 'Legno Nero Rosso' (1960, est. £3-4 million), Domenico Gnoli's 'La Tranche' (1965, est. £1.2-1.8 million), and Piero Manzoni's 'Achrome' (1959, est. £1.35-2 million). International highlights include René Magritte's 'L'empire des lumières', Claude Monet's Nymphéas, a never-before-auctioned Picasso portrait of Dora Maar and Marie-Thérèse Walter, and four David Hockney landscapes. The Now Evening Sale features works by Cecily Brown, George Condo, Michaël Borremans, Elizabeth Peyton, three Banksy pieces from Robbie Williams' collection, Jadé Fadojutimi, Flora Yukhnovich, Amoako Boafo, and Shara Hughes.
