Sotheby's Europe appoints Oliver Barker and Mario Tavella as co-chairmen, forming new European Strategy Board
Sotheby's has appointed Oliver Barker and Mario Tavella as co-chairmen of its European division, joining Philipp Württemberg in this role. Barker began his career at Sotheby's in 1994 as a specialist in Impressionist and Modern Art, later moving to the Contemporary Art department in 2001. Mario Tavella, who became président-directeur général of Sotheby's France in January 2016, brings nearly 25 years of expertise in the European furniture department. Alongside nine other specialists, Barker and Tavella will serve on a newly established European Strategy Board, which is currently co-chaired by Philipp Württemberg for Europe and Robin Woodhead internationally.
