market-auction · 2026-04-27

Auction house Sotheby's has partnered with streetwear authority Highsnobiety, founded in 2005 by David Fisher, to create a limited-edition clothing line featuring Old Master paintings from the 16th to 18th centuries. The collection, launched during Sotheby's Masters Week Auctions in New York on January 29, includes T-shirts and hoodies priced at approximately €65, €105, and €125. The garments showcase works from the Master Paintings Evening Sale and Master Paintings & Sculpture Day Sale, while the Old Masters Online Sale runs until February 4. The collection is available on Highsnobiety.com and at the Co.Lab pop-up in Selfridges Corner Shop, London, until February 9. Featured artworks include a 16th-century Netherlandish School panel with a skeleton, Matthias Withoos's Still Life with Butterflies and Lizards (estimated $60,000–80,000), and a 1600 Imaginary Landscape with Allegories of Abundance and Charity from the Prague School. Sotheby's Senior Vice President David Pollack stated the collaboration aims to introduce new audiences to Old Masters by presenting them as modern, graphic images. Highsnobiety, based in Germany, is known for documenting influential trends in fashion, music, art, and lifestyle.
