Sony Bravia's 70th Anniversary Ad Features Abandoned Romanian Casino

other · 2026-05-05

For its 70th anniversary, Sony has released a new high-definition television commercial shot in an abandoned casino in Romania. Directed by American filmmaker Andre Stringer, the spot continues Sony's tradition of color-centric ads, following the 2005 bouncing balls in San Francisco and the paint explosion in Glasgow. This time, 4,000 white balloons burst to release over 1,500 kg of multicolored glitter, filling the building with luminous rain. The soundtrack is a cover of Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors" by Tom Odell, premiering in the ad ahead of its single release on September 30, 2016.
