Sony a7R VI Review: 66.8MP Stacked Sensor, 30fps, and 8.5-Stop IBIS

other · 2026-05-13

Sony has announced the a7R VI, a high-resolution mirrorless camera featuring a new 66.8-megapixel fully stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor and Bionz XR2 processor. It shoots full-resolution 14-bit RAW at up to 30 fps with blackout-free electronic shutter, offers 8.5-stop in-body image stabilization, and includes an improved autofocus system with Real-time Recognition AF+. The camera records 8K video at 30p with reduced rolling shutter (17ms) and 4K up to 120p. A new NP-SA100 battery replaces the NP-FZ100, and the EVF is three times brighter with DCI-P3 color space. The a7R VI is priced at $4,499 and is available now. It represents a significant upgrade over the a7R V, combining high resolution with speed previously reserved for lower-megapixel models.
