Sonic Bloom: Yuri Suzuki's Interactive Sound Installation in London

Japanese artist Yuri Suzuki (born 1980, Tokyo) has unveiled 'Sonic Bloom', a large interactive sound sculpture installed in Brown Hart Gardens, Mayfair, London, inaugurated on August 23, 2021. The work consists of numerous primary-colored tubes ending with acoustic amplifiers that both amplify surrounding environmental sounds and function as megaphones for passersby to speak to each other. Suzuki stated the piece offers a 'multidimensional experience' where visitors can exchange conversations, fostering social connectivity and temporary bonds that could lead to friendship. The title 'Sonic Bloom' reflects this idea of blossoming human connections. Positioned in the heart of London, the installation invites locals and tourists to engage in a playful, creative moment and reconnect with the world and others after months of lockdowns. A parallel digital experience will launch during the London Design Festival in September 2021.
