Sonia Kacem's Bronze Sculptures Debut at Galerie Gregor Staiger Milan
From March 30 to May 21, 2022, Galerie Gregor Staiger in Milan will host Sonia Kacem's inaugural solo exhibition, '3 pieghe, 4 archi e 1 rettangolo,' coinciding with Milan Art Week. This marks Kacem's fifth showcase with the gallery and her first at the Via Rossini 3 location. The artworks are a result of her January 2022 residency at Fonderia Artistica Battaglia, where she transformed her textile and ceramic studies into bronze. Established in 1913, the foundry is renowned for casting the bronze doors of the Duomo di Milano. The exhibition includes five wall pieces and site-specific wallpaper inspired by jewelry Kacem designed in Cairo. Co-founded in 2010, Galerie Gregor Staiger emphasizes emerging contemporary art and female artists.
