Sonia Andresano Invites Visitors to Pause at Trajan's Markets

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Sonia Andresano (born 1983 in Salerno, lives in Rome) presents "Permesso di sosta e fermata" at the Mercati di Traiano in Rome as part of the Live Museum Live Change project. The initiative, organized by PAV under the Regione Lazio's Atelier Arte Bellezza Cultura program in collaboration with Roma Capitale and the Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali, invites contemporary artists into historic spaces. Following Iginio De Luca's "Le Voci di Dentro" in February, Andresano's project transforms the museum into a site for pause and listening. She installs chairs, armchairs, and stools donated by individuals, each placed in specific positions to offer new perspectives on the archaeological site. The work explores themes of stopping, collective viewpoints, exploration, waiting, and movement, encouraging visitors to travel through time and space among the memories and stories within the museum.
