Som Supaparinya Wins Han Nefkens Foundation Video Art Grant
Chiang Mai artist Som Supaparinya has been awarded the second Han Nefkens Foundation – Southeast Asian Video Art Production Grant, which was established in Barcelona in 2023 and offers $15,000 USD for a new video project. Museion in Bolzano, Italy, will acquire copies of her work, which will also be showcased by partner institutions such as Sàn Art in Vietnam and the Jim Thompson Art Center in Thailand. Supaparinya was selected from a pool of eight finalists. This edition commemorates the late Dinh Q. Lê, who passed away in 2024. Born in 1973, she earned her degrees from Chiang Mai University and Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig. Her work is currently on display at the National Gallery of Thailand for the Bangkok Art Biennale until February 25.
