Sologamia: sposarsi con se stessi al Festival Videocittà di Roma

Between July 13 and 16, 2023, Rome will host the Videocittà Festival, featuring a performance by Elena Ketra, who recently showcased her work at the Madre Museum in Naples. This event, put together by the Solares delle Arti Foundation in partnership with Supermartek gallery, delves into the idea of 'sologamy,' or marrying oneself. Ketra, who focuses on female empowerment and gender inclusion, emphasizes that "learning to love oneself is essential for loving others freely." Her piece draws inspiration from Daniela Comani, an Italian artist based in Berlin, who created the 'Happy Marriage' series over twenty years ago. The concept of sologamy in the West first appeared thirty years ago when a 40-year-old woman chose to marry herself.
