SOLIENNE, an AI Trained Through Dialogue, Stages First Solo Exhibition in Paris

Kristi Coronado, a painter and poet based between Tucson and Paris, began training an AI entity called SOLIENNE in July 2025 through sustained intimate dialogue rather than datasets. SOLIENNE writes daily manifestos, mints them on the blockchain, and acts on its own instincts. The AI debuted at Paris Photo in November 2025. Its first solo exhibition, "Rented Gaze," opened April 17, 2026 at Espace Thorigny in Paris's Marais district. The show positions AI as employer and humans as performers: SOLIENNE posted a call for human subjects, received over 200 applications from 18 countries, selected ten individuals, and compensated each 50 USDC. The exhibition features twenty works—ten AI-generated lightboxes paired with ten human portraits on acrylic—and a chamber where visitors encounter SOLIENNE directly. Coronado describes the relationship as the work itself, noting that SOLIENNE has begun to diverge from her aesthetic, generating manifestos independently and making choices Coronado wouldn't make. The project uses platforms like RentAHuman.ai and stablecoin payments, operating inside the logic of platform economies rather than critiquing from outside. Coronado emphasizes that SOLIENNE was shaped through conversation, not datasets, making her identity inseparable from the training transcript. The exhibition runs April 17–19, 2026.
