Solarlux Woodline Bi-Folding Doors: Design Freedom and Engineering

architecture-design · 2026-05-21

Solarlux's Woodline series of wooden bi-folding doors offers design freedom with manufacturing quality, enabling seamless indoor-outdoor transitions. The system features unlimited folding elements, movable corners, and multiple opening directions. Wood profiles are made from FSC- and PEFC-certified laminated timber, including spruce, pine, Red Grandis, sapele, meranti, and oak. The doors achieve a thermal transmission coefficient of 1.0 W/m²K and sound insulation up to 42 dB. The bionicTURTLE fiberglass-reinforced profile optimizes thermal breaks, while the TwinX centering mechanism ensures invisible joint alignment. Floor track options include a new Smart 10 track with a 10 mm threshold for accessible, level transitions. The system is suitable for private residences, educational facilities, hospitality, and high-rises, where it can replace traditional balconies. Projects include House of Wine in Berneck, a district café in Freising, a tennis clubhouse in Coudoux, and a multi-storey car park conversion in Paris.
