festival-fair · 2026-04-26

The second edition of the Solar Biennale has opened in Lausanne, Switzerland, with the exhibition 'Soleil·s' at mudac – Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts, located in the Plateforme 10 arts district. The biennale, founded in 2020 by Dutch designers Marjan Van Aubel and Pauline van Dongen, promotes solar design. The exhibition runs from March 21 (spring equinox) to September 21 (autumn equinox). Curated by Scott Longfellow and Rafaël Santianez, it features works exploring solar energy, including Nathanaël Abeille's solar reflectors, Mischer'Traxler Studio's 3D-printing machine 'The idea of a tree', and ecoLogicStudio's 'photosynthetic city' prototype. The EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne) is a key partner, with professor Maryline Andersen presenting research on light's effects on circadian rhythms. The biennale includes parallel initiatives at the EPFL campus.
