Sol LeWitt's Wall Drawings in Metz and Leuven
In 2012, two significant exhibitions featuring Sol LeWitt's wall drawings were launched: one at Centre Pompidou-Metz, which will run until July 29, 2013, showcasing the largest collection of his wall drawings in Europe, and another at M-Museum in Leuven, concluding on October 14, 2012. The Metz exhibition includes approximately thirty black-and-white drawings, while Leuven displays around twenty color pieces, all selected from a total of 1,200 works created between 1968 and 2007. LeWitt's inaugural wall drawing was produced in 1968 for a New York benefit. He introduced a service-oriented economic model, pricing drawings at $4 per hour. LeWitt considered his wall drawings as a unified entity, with draftsmen following precise instructions. A 2013 exhibition in Metz will feature his personal collection.
