Sofia Lai creates five sculptures with Miu Miu garments for Artribune project
Italian visual artist Sofia Lai, based in London, has collaborated with Miu Miu on a project featured in the new issue of Artribune Focus Moda, dedicated to "MODA MANIFESTO". The project involves creating five sculptures using Miu Miu garments, each representing significant female figures in Lai's life: her grandmothers, mother, and sister, with a final sculpture depicting the artist herself. The works are accompanied by photographs and symbolic object compositions published in the print edition. Lai's practice merges abstract and figurative imagery from fashion, using layered textiles, painting, and sculpture to explore distorted, corporeal forms and unconventional human identities. She views styling as a process of "identity construction through textile materials". The project reflects on how memories, gestures, and intergenerational bonds—particularly between grandmothers, mothers, and daughters—shape identity. The initiative builds on Artribune's ongoing Focus Moda series, which began in September 2023 and includes a dedicated exhibition space for photography.
