Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy Named Director of Witte de With in Rotterdam

Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy will take over as the director of Witte de With in Rotterdam starting September 18, 2017. Before this, she spent six years as the contemporary art curator at Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros. She also managed Museo Tamayo in Mexico City between 2009 and 2010. Her notable projects include curating The Neighbors exhibition series at The Bronx Museum of the Arts from 2016 to 2017 and a retrospective for Mario Garcia Torres at Museo Tamayo in 2016. In 2013, she served as the artistic director for the 9th Mercosul Biennial in Brazil and was involved in Documenta 13 in 2012. Witte de With plans to change its name in 2018 to move away from its colonial connections.
