Sociétés Secrètes at CAPC Bordeaux Explores Occult Societies Through 130 Works

The 'Sociétés secrètes' exhibition, curated by Cristina Ricupero and Alexis Vaillant, is on display at the CAPC musée d'art contemporain de Bordeaux from November 9, 2011, to February 26, 2012. This showcase features 130 pieces from 52 global artists, such as Kenneth Anger, Armin Boehm, Ulla von Brandenburg, and others. The exhibition delves into the theme of secret societies, divided into five segments: initiation, occult masters, conspiracy, occult knowledge, and altered states of consciousness. It highlights the conflict between contemporary openness and the human desire for secrecy, portraying these societies as subjects of concealment. The curators aim to immerse visitors in the 'mental world' of these groups, presenting various ritual experiences across two levels.
