Snøhetta Unveils Sweetbird North: Miami Design District Tower Turns Hurricane-Proofing into Sculptural Facade
Sweetbird North, an eight-story mixed-use structure crafted by Snøhetta for Raycliff Capital, has been revealed in Miami's Design District. This development encompasses around 120,000 square feet dedicated to office use and 22,500 square feet for retail on the ground level. The building's exterior is enveloped in a custom-engineered stainless-steel mesh that functions as a sunshade, guardrail, and hurricane-rated screen. Its design incorporates exposed concrete bays and cantilevered terraces, along with landscaped terraces on every office floor. Construction is set to commence in August 2026, with a facade mock-up scheduled for the fall. Sweetbird North signifies the Design District's transition toward a denser urban landscape, prioritizing climate adaptation in its architectural approach.
