Snøhetta Completes Expansion of Lillehammer Art Museum

architecture-design · 2026-05-05

Snøhetta has completed a new expansion of the Lillehammer Art Museum in Norway, adding two theaters, renovated cinema halls, and a dedicated exhibition space for local artist Jakob Weidemann. The project also reconfigures internal pathways to strengthen the connection between the city and the foyer, enhancing openness and welcome. This follows the firm's earlier renovation of the museum and Lillehammer Cinema in 1994 for the Winter Olympics. Snøhetta recently won a Best of Design Award from The Architect's Newspaper for the expansion of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
