SNCF transforms Paris-Versailles RER trains into mobile art museums
Since late May 2016, SNCF has decorated five RER train cars on the Paris-Versailles line with motifs inspired by the Palace of Versailles, including the Queen's Chamber, the Hall of Mirrors, and the royal library. The initiative aims to offer a preview of the UNESCO World Heritage site to the 50,000 daily passengers rather than attract new visitors. SNCF previously launched an Impressionist-themed regional train running until September 25, 2016, stopping at Giverny, Rouen, and Le Havre, with interiors and exteriors inspired by works of Claude Monet and other Impressionists.
