Snapseed 4.0 Brings Major Update to Android After iOS Exclusivity
Google has released Snapseed 4.0 on iOS and Android, following the version 3.0 update that arrived on iOS in June 2025 but was notably absent on Android. This marks the first major Android update since version 2.17 in 2017. The app, originally launched in June 2011 by Nik Software and acquired by Google in September 2012, had seen years of stagnation after Google abandoned the Nik Collection in May 2017 (later acquired by DxO). Snapseed 4.0 introduces a redesigned editing experience, film-inspired filters from Kodak, Fujifilm, and Polaroid, an in-app camera with real-time editing, and non-destructive RAW editing support. The update is free with no subscriptions or in-app purchases.
