Smashbox Heir Lists $48.5M Wellness Estate in Sullivan Canyon

Dean Factor, the cofounder of Smashbox Cosmetics and the great-grandson of Max Factor, has put his custom-designed wellness estate on the market in Sullivan Canyon, Los Angeles, for $48.5 million. Completed in 2017, the property, named the Oaks at Old Ranch Road, boasts state-of-the-art air and water filtration systems, solar energy capabilities, a private well, an infrared sauna, an ozone-treated swimming pool, a gym, and dedicated yoga and massage spaces. Designed by architect Cindy Grant and constructed by Hanover Construction, the 17,000-square-foot residence features eight bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, two primary suites, an elevator, a library, a movie theater, and a wine cellar with a capacity for 3,000 bottles. The expansive grounds, nearly nine acres, include a sports court, a lake, orchards, gardens, two greenhouses, a detached writer's studio, hiking trails, and parking for 40 vehicles. The Factors acquired the land in 2011 for $4.8 million, demolishing a dilapidated midcentury ranch home. Tracy Tutor and Chris Cortazzo from Compass are managing the listing. The family is selling as their two oldest children have entered college, while they intend to stay in Los Angeles.
