SM Bureau's 'Rebirth' Exhibition in Paris Reimagines Collectible Design as Spatial Composition

architecture-design · 2026-04-20

In Paris, France, SM Bureau unveils 'Rebirth,' an engaging exhibition that delves into collectible design through a variety of wood, stone, and ceramic pieces arranged in a cohesive spatial layout. Crafted by SM Bureau / Aleksandra Smetanina, the project highlights the transformation of materials, showcasing stone with marks of extraction, wood's natural imperfections, and ceramics modified by firing. Instead of a traditional showcase, it offers a meticulously structured environment where furniture, sculptures, and wall installations interact through careful alignment, proportion, and light, influencing atmosphere and perception. This Paris version, following its debut at Collectible Brussels, adopts a more minimalist architectural style, positioning design as a medium for spatial experience. Notable artists include Adrian Salvador Candela, Aude Bray-Deperne, and many others. Studio Brinth provides the photography. The exhibition emphasizes how objects embody the memory of their creation, fostering a serene, immersive ambiance that blurs the lines between gallery and interior spaces.
