Slip.Stream.Slip: Digital Art and Game Engine Culture at Manchester's New Modal Gallery
In Manchester, the Modal Gallery has kicked off its first exhibition titled 'Slip.Stream.Slip.' This showcase highlights the creations of nine artists from around the globe and explores the blurry boundary between the real world and digital simulations. Valentino Catricalà is the curator of this exhibit, which is part of the £35 million School of Digital Arts at Manchester Metropolitan University. The artists utilize cutting-edge labs for various mediums like augmented reality and sound art. Running until September 18, 2022, the exhibition features works from notable figures including Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg and Lu Yang. Catricalà mentions that the exhibit delves into themes of game engine technology, especially as it relates to CGI and machine learning during the pandemic. A second part is planned for October 2022.
