Slanted Magazine #45 Explores Sexuality and Gender Through Editorial Design

Slanted Magazine, in collaboration with Munich's Archive Artist Publications (AAP), has released issue #45 titled 'Sex,' delving into sexuality, gender, and body politics. The issue features a curated selection of artistic publications and critical essays that challenge conventions on self-image, identity, and representation. It examines how marginalized bodies—non-binary, queer, disabled, racialized—are depicted in art and media. The physical design includes a softcover with open thread-stitching, a dust jacket, and uncoated and transparent papers from Reflex paper, enhancing the tactile experience. Additionally, the publisher has released 'Support Independent Type II,' a follow-up to the 2020 book, showcasing over 300 independent type foundries as an alternative to corporate font distributors. The book highlights experimental and bold typefaces, emphasizing how independent type design reflects cultural shifts and fosters innovation.
