Sky's Art Documentaries on Renaissance and Baroque Released on Home Video

publication · 2026-05-05

After sold-out cinema screenings and record TV ratings, two Sky-produced documentaries are being released on home video through Koch Media. 'Firenze e gli Uffizi – Viaggio nel cuore del Rinascimento' will be available from May 25, and 'San Pietro e le Basiliche Papali di Roma 3D' arrives on DVD from June 22. The first film uses immersive 3D to explore Florence as an open-air museum, featuring over 10 museum locations and 150 artworks, including the Brancacci Chapel with frescoes by Masolino da Panicale and Masaccio, the Galleria dell'Accademia housing Michelangelo's David, and the Uffizi Gallery with works by Botticelli, Leonardo, Raphael, Giotto, Caravaggio, and Michelangelo. The narrative is guided by a recollection of Lorenzo de' Medici. The second film, produced with the Vatican Television Center, Nexo Digital, Magnitudo Film, and Sky Arte HD, offers a 3D journey through St. Peter's Basilica and the papal basilicas of Rome, using excerpts from Stendhal's 'Passeggiate Romane' narrated by Adriano Giannini. Experts Antonio Paolucci, Micol Forti, Paolo Portoghesi, and Claudio Strinati provide commentary. This release follows the success of 'Musei Vaticani 3D', which was distributed in 60 countries and 2,000 theaters, reaching 220,000 viewers.
