other · 2026-04-26

A restored documentary featuring a legendary 1979 concert by Fabrizio De André and Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM) will air on Sky Arte on August 7, 2024. Directed by Walter Veltroni, the film is based on video footage shot by director Piero Frattari, who co-recorded the event and preserved it for over 40 years. The concert took place on January 3, 1979, at Padiglione C of the Fiera di Genova. The footage, recently rediscovered and restored, serves as a centerpiece to explore a remarkable era in Italian music, marked by the tour and the artistic partnership between De André and PFM. The documentary includes interviews with PFM members Franz Di Cioccio, Patrick Djivas, Franco Mussida, and Flavio Premoli; De André's partner Dori Ghezzi; critic and photographer Guido Harari; and singer-songwriter David Riondino. De André passed away on January 11, 25 years ago from the film's release. The content on Sky Arte's site is curated by Artribune.
