Sky Arte Series 'Art of Museum' Explores World's Greatest Museums

Starting Thursday, February 3, Sky Arte will air 'Art of Museum', a series that delves into the turbulent histories and present-day lives of iconic museums worldwide. The show features personalities such as Vivienne Westwood, Marina Abramović, Olafur Elíasson, and Wolfgang Joop. Art historian Matt Lodder from the University of Essex reveals little-known anecdotes about artworks. The series grants access to restricted areas like storage rooms. The first episode focuses on New York's Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, where artist Julie Mehretu encounters masterpieces including Kandinsky's Composition VIII, Pollock's Alchemy, and Duchamp's Study for Portrait of Chess Players. In Madrid, opera singer Joyce DiDonato reflects on Velázquez's Las Meninas, Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights, and Goya's The Third of May 1808 at the Museo del Prado.
