Sky Arte's 'In compagnia del lupo' returns with darker fairy tales

The new season of 'In compagnia del lupo. Il cuore nero delle fiabe' premieres on Sky Arte on February 22, 2022. Hosted by Carlo Lucarelli and produced by Sky Original in collaboration with TIWI, the series uncovers hidden secrets within classic fairy tales, linking them to real-life crime stories. The show features animated illustrations, guest experts, and notable locations such as Castello Bonoris in Montichiari and the Biblioteca Universitaria di Bologna. Accompanying podcasts, co-created with Lucarelli, are released every Tuesday on Sky Arte's website and free streaming platforms. To coincide with the launch, Sky Arte +1 becomes a pop-up channel called #LUCARELLINOSTOP, airing until February 22 and dedicated entirely to Lucarelli's work, including reruns of the first season and his previous series 'Inseparabili. The first episode, 'La Bella Addormentata e l’incubo', explores the 1876 case of Karolina Olsson, a 14-year-old Swedish girl who slept for 32 years after a minor fall, paralleling the original dark version of Sleeping Beauty by Vincenzo Basile where the princess is not awakened by a kiss. Psychologist Alessandra Devoto comments on sleep disorders. The second episode, 'Le Streghe son tornate', examines witch hysteria, citing collective hallucinations on the island of Alicudi from 1902 to 1905, with philosopher Maura Gancitano joining the discussion.
